We live in the most exciting era for technology. We may not have the flying DeLorean just yet but, luckily we have gadgets that can make our day to day much easier than it was in the past.

Dial up internet: If today’s internet speed is comparable to microwave cooking, dial up was the speed of a  slow cooker. Anxiety was at an all time high as you sat through the screeching sound of the modem only to find out that a phone call was coming in and you were once again disconnected. #EEEEEEEE-OOOOOO-EEEEEE-GHGHGHGHGHGHHGHGHGHG
Floppy disks: How many floppy disks would it take to store one of today’s Selfies? With a whopping 120mb per disk, carrying documents around was a often the job of 5 or 6 of these bad boys. So glad documents are as light as a cloud these days.
Fax machines: Yet another noisy contraption that was silenced thanks to e-mail. Gone are the days spent by the fax machine waiting  for a signed contract to come in. There’s an app for that now.
Beepers/Pagers:  The 90s gave us the most inconvenient way of reaching someone. Need to get in touch with a client? Just look up their number on your rolodex, page them a series of numbers and hope that they have a pay phone nearby to return your call.  Texting may have replaced this method of communication but isn’t necessarily a better option.
Palm Pilots: The grandfather of the smartphone was pretty innovative for its time. However, the digital agenda pales in comparison to our current gadgets. How did we live without Siri?

  1. These tech tools seems like ancient history for me. It has been a long time since I have seen these up close. But I do remember how these has helped me in some way.
