ORLANDO, FL.—February 20, 2017— The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO) celebrated its 24th Annual Leadership Installation Luncheon in a sold out event at the Rosen Shingle Creek. The event, sponsored by PSAV, Rosen Shingle Creek and Walt Disney World Resort, highlighted the induction of a new Chairwoman and Board of Directors for 2017. The community also got to hear from the Chamber’s new selected President after a national search, Mr. Frank López.
Close to 700 people from the Central Florida community gathered for this annual event. WFTV Channel 9’s news anchor, Mr. Jorge Estevez entertained the crowd as the master of ceremony for the afternoon. The first part of the luncheon emphasized a recap of 2016 highlights. Outgoing Chairwoman of the Board, Ms. Lourdes Mola gave her remarks calling attention to the Chamber’s many accomplishments, even though times of transition. In her speech, she highlighted the Chamber’s increasing efforts in the areas of Supplier Diversity and Civic Advocacy. “Over 700 meetings were held between buyers and suppliers. In addition our voter registration campaign “Central Florida will be Heard” was part of the collective efforts in our community that led to an increased voter participation in our state,” stated Mola. “While numbers are important, I want to share that we have something unique and special here. We have a heart,” she added, while alluding to the many great stories she hears from Chamber members.

Judge José “Pepito” Rodriguez conducted the swear-in ceremony of the 25 new board members that will serve the Chamber during the 2017-2018 term. Karla Muñiz, Human Resources Senior Director for Talent Acquisitions & Recruitment Service Center at Florida Hospital, took the stage as the new Chairwoman of the Board of Directors. “As your new Chair, I am committed to fulfilling the mission of the Chamber with courage, simplicity, and transparency,” said Muñiz as she outlined her overarching goals for this year. “We are going to be more intentional and develop a strategic plan for us to grow our footprint in Osceola and Seminole County,” she added. The Chamber’s new President, Mr. Frank López, delivered closing remarks. He made emphasis on Florida being the fastest growing Hispanic market in the USA and the 3rd largest Hispanic market in the East Coast. “We have a recipe for success,” stated Frank as he continued to recognize the leaders that have contributed to the Chamber’s success. “I am humbled and filled with joy to come into a community that works together. I am committed to expand on the legacy that others paved before me, but I will not do it in isolation. The only way we can move into a more prosperous future for all is by leading together,” he concluded.
