ORLANDO, FL.—December 21, 2015—The Online MBA Page (OMP) released their list of the Top 100 Social Media Friendly Chambers of Commerce. Chambers throughout the United States (both state and local), were evaluated for their social media activity and engagement with the online community. Several Florida- based chambers, including Orlando’s Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO), made the list.
This study was first developed in 2013, when the OMP reviewed more than 550 Chambers. This year, the study evaluated more than 2,000 Chambers. Only 5 percent of the Chambers evaluated would make the Top 100 Social Media Friendly Chambers of Commerce list. Among the 5 percent is the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando.
The Online MBA Page considered “social media activity” as quantifiable data found on major social media platforms. These platforms include Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Google Plus and Flickr. A Chamber’s social media activity would be evaluated on a point system, whereby Facebook and Twitter would make up 40 out of the 100 points needed. Those Chambers with fewer than 2,000 Facebook Likes and fewer than 500 Twitter followers were automatically eliminated.
The HCCMO received this recognition in 2013 when the study was first released and continues to develop and grow their social media presence. Facebook likes have increased from 5,000 in 2014 to 7,000 Facebook likes this year. This number is doubled when combined with total Facebook likes across all of the HCCMO event pages; Total Facebook likes reaching more than 16,000.
