Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando Announces Maria Garcia as the new Vice President
Orlando, FL – October 5, 2015 – The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO), announces Maria Garcia as the new Vice President effectively immediately. Ms. Garcia previously served as the Director of Events & Operations for the HCCMO. Responsible with overseeing the successful execution of the HCCMO signature events, monthly events, and proper implementation of the policies and procedures within the organization. She began her role in July 2014 only 2 weeks prior to the HCCMO’s Political Hobnob, which was quickly followed by preparation for the 6th annual Latin Food & Wine Festival.
“Maria has proven herself to be an effective leader within our organization,” said President Bolívar. “Her analytical skills and ability to remain poised in the most stressful of situations is a testament to the level of professionalism that she will contribute to the position”.
Prior to this Ms. Garcia served as the Director of the Department of Art, Culture and Tourism for the Municipality of San Juan, PR as well as a Professor of the University of Sagrado Corazon where she created curriculum on the Event Production introductory class. However, most Puerto Rican citizens may remember her through her alias, Lunna; a Grammy-nominated singer. María has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Human Resources Management. She is currently working on the Doctoral dissertation on “The Effects of Music in the Workplace”, the final stage of her Doctorate in Management and Organizational Leadership, which she will complete in 2016.
“It is with great enthusiasm that I take on the role of Vice President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando”, said Ms. Garcia. “Through this promotion, I expect to continue to support the Hispanic business community of Metro Orlando and add to the legacy of great leaders within this organization”.
